Woodland
Creation
Nicholsons has been helping farmers and landowners
in the creation of new areas of woodland for nearly
30 years.
The
process of woodland creation at Nicholsons starts
with the all-important first meeting with the
client. At this meeting the objectives of the
planting scheme are set. Typical objectives can
include Landscape improvement, enhancement or
creation of a shoot, screening, shelter and long
term timber production.
Who
pays??
Nicholsons is able to apply for government funding
under the English Woodland Grant Scheme. This
is a competitive process and it is at this stage
that our long experience can significantly enhance
the possibility of grant approval. This is especially
true when an individual is considering planting
a new native woodland.
What
will it look like??
However you want it! Much of our work over the
last ten years has been involved in the creation
of new native woodlands meeting the criteria of
the Forestry Commissions Bulletin 112 involving
the use of sinuous planting lines and variable
density planting.
Nicholsons
is not only able to assist the landowner with
the effective establishment of new woodland, but
using the resources of our 25 acre nursery, based
at North Aston in Oxfordshire, we can guarantee
the quality of the young trees we use, as well
as offer a comprehensive post-planting maintenance
service. |
